AND NOW…YOUR OBSCURE BATMAN CHARACTER OF THE WEEK (2/5/11)

…DR. DOOM?!

NOT HIM

From The Encyclopedia of Comic Book Heroes!

A ruthless smuggler who conceals himself inside a mummy case after a narrow escape from Batman and Robin, only to have the Dynamic Duo transport the mummy case to the Batcave’s trophy room and place it on display there, unaware that Dr. Doom is hiding inside it.

The rest of the entry goes on to explain that this Dr. Doom tries to kill Batman and Robin by booby trapping some of their crime fighting mementos, only to die via an explosion that traps him in the mummy case, suffocating him.

It’s too bad they killed him off from the get go, I imagine Stan Lee would have to call his creation “Professor Metalface” if DC had used this guy more than once.

A reminder, gentle reader, as to the criteria for YOUR OBSCURE BATMAN CHARACTER OF THE WEEK:

  • Can’t have their own Wikipedia article. Fan wikis, mentions in other articles or sub-articles are ok, though.
  • Can’t have any meaningful appearances in adapted media (movies, TV shows, action figures, etc).
  • Has to be a character from a story in which Batman is the lead character. World’s Finest works, JLA less so.
  • I will probably break these rules because I feel like writing about Composite Superman or whatever.

AN OBSCURE BATMAN CHARACTER. EVERY SATURDAY. THAT’S THE HIVE OF SCUM PROMISE.
